Job description
We are seeking a Digital Project Officer / Digital Content & Communications Officer to provide short-term support to review, update and maintain the Skills Connect directory content and communications, while assisting with inbox management, administration, and impact data collation.
You will work alongside the Skills Connect team to ensure high standards of accuracy, accessibility, responsiveness and content structure across digital and communication channels., * Review and update directory listings to ensure accurate, user-focused information
- Edit and rewrite content in plain English with consistent tone, accessibility, and SEO in mind
- Assess and improve content clarity, removing unnecessary or duplicate information
- Categorise and structure content within the website taxonomy to enhance navigation
- Upload and manage content using WordPress CMS, ensuring formatting and functionality standards
- Liaise with providers and stakeholders to gather, verify, and update information sensitively
- Support weekly email production via dotdigital, including drafting, editing, and list management
- Monitor and manage inboxes, responding to enquiries professionally and escalating where needed
- Provide general administrative support, including scheduling, tracking, and record-keeping
- Assist with data collection and reporting, ensuring accurate tracking of outputs and impact
Requirements
This role requires a confident and self-directed individual who can work independently, exercise sound judgement about what content is essential versus non-essential, and understand how technical skills and employability content should be presented for maximum clarity and impact.
While a deep background in employment and skills is not essential, the role requires the ability to understand complex ideas quickly and synthesise information effectively., * Experience using dotdigital (or similar email marketing platforms) to produce email newsletters
- Experience using WordPress to create and edit website content
- Strong analytical ability to assess complex information and determine key messages
- Excellent written English and advanced editing skills.
- Experience writing content in plain English and adapting content for accessibility.
- Ability to understand technical skills and employability provision and translate it into clear, user-friendly content.
- Strong understanding of how content structure (taxonomy) affects user experience.
- Ability to manage shared inboxes and respond professionally to enquiries.
- Experience engaging with external stakeholders and gathering information diplomatically.
- Ability to navigate political or partnership sensitivities with professionalism.
- Experience working in the employment and skills sector is desirable
- Experience of public sector or partnership environments is desirable
- A good understanding of digital accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG principles) is desirable
Benefits & conditions
Please note the rate for this role is dependent on experience from £19.18 to £21.65 per hour PAYE.
