Job description

Your role and responsibilities The Technical Support Officer plays an important role within the Growth, Highways and Infrastructure department, supporting the delivery of Transport Strategy services across the county. A typical day might include:

  • Uploading planning documents and keeping databases up to date, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
  • Managing financial tasks for the teams we support, from processing payments and invoices to keeping track of budgets.
  • Answering calls and emails, providing helpful information to colleagues and the public, and resolving queries.
  • Issuing Street Works Permits to developers undertaking works in the public highway and recording this information on Aurora.
  • Organising meetings, booking rooms, and ensuring everyone is prepared and supported.
  • Contributing to team discussions, sharing your ideas, and supporting and covering others.
  • Helping design and improve systems, making processes more efficient for everyone.
  • Providing a welcoming first point of contact, offering advice and guidance.

Requirements

  • A Level 3 qualification and/ or equivalent knowledge and experience in an administrative, customer service, financial, or similar role where organisation and accuracy are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence sharing information clearly and professionally.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload effectively.
  • A professional and customer-focused approach when responding to enquiries, including in challenging situations.
  • A positive, flexible and collaborative attitude, with a willingness to support colleagues and adapt to changing priorities.
  • An eagerness to learn new systems, processes and ways of working.
