Data Infrastructure Engineers play a crucial role in building and maintaining the systems that power modern data platforms. This opportunity could involve designing, developing and optimizing the infrastructure that enables organizations to manage, process and derive value from their data at scale.

About the opportunity

This is an opportunity to register your interest in future Data Infrastructure Engineer positions within organizations that are scaling their data capabilities. Roles of this type could sit within collaborative technical teams where you would contribute to the design and delivery of robust, scalable data systems that support business intelligence, analytics and operational decision-making.

The work could involve collaborating across data engineering, platform and infrastructure teams to build pipelines, optimize data quality and ensure reliable data flow across distributed systems. You could engage with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate those into technical solutions that balance performance, reliability and maintainability., * Designing and building data pipelines that reliably move and transform data across cloud platforms and on-premises systems

  • Developing infrastructure-as-code solutions using tools such as Terraform to provision and manage cloud resources
  • Collaborating with data analysts and engineers to gather requirements and align pipeline architecture with business needs
  • Implementing and monitoring data quality checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Working with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes to deploy and manage data services
  • Optimizing data system performance and troubleshooting issues in production environments
  • Contributing to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team, Most roles of this type offer the following, dependent on the industry and seniority of the role:

Requirements

  • Experience building data pipelines and working with data infrastructure platforms
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java or similar
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably Azure or AWS
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Familiarity with version control, CI/CD practices and Linux/Windows environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Authorization to work in the United Kingdom

Nice-to-have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker or container orchestration
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Familiarity with data quality frameworks and monitoring tools
  • Google Cloud Data Engineer certification or equivalent
  • Master’s degree qualification
