Job description

We’re looking to build our platform engineering capability in Manchester. This is an opportunity to register your interest in future Platform Engineer roles focused on designing, implementing and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure and deployment pipelines that enable development teams to move faster and more reliably., Roles of this type sit within technology teams delivering scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure and CI/CD automation. The work could involve collaborating across development and operations to modernise infrastructure, optimise deployment processes, and support teams in adopting cloud-native practices. You could be working with businesses navigating complex infrastructure challenges-whether that’s containerisation, microservices architecture, or multi-cloud strategy-and helping them build the foundations for sustainable growth., * Designing and implementing cloud infrastructure on Azure, AWS or GCP, with focus on scalability and resilience

  • Building and optimising CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation to reduce time-to-market
  • Containerising applications and orchestrating workloads using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Collaborating with development teams to support microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Managing infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Terraform
  • Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues and implementing reliability improvements
  • Supporting teams in adopting cloud-native practices and platform standardisation
  • Contributing to documentation, runbooks and knowledge sharing across the team

Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure or DevOps
  • Working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS or GCP)
  • Hands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience building or maintaining pipelines
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts and tools such as Terraform
  • Experience with Linux and Windows environments
  • Strong understanding of networking, DNS, load balancing and DMZ architecture
  • Scripting ability in Bash, Python or similar languages
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Nice-to-have experience could include:

  • Experience with .NET / ASP.NET or Java / Spring Boot environments
  • Familiarity with SAP RISE, SAP S/4HANA or enterprise application infrastructure
  • Knowledge of data pipeline architecture and data quality practices
  • Experience with API design and microservices patterns
  • Exposure to security compliance frameworks such as CSDR
  • SMSTS or First Aid certification
